Building a kit is a straightforward process, but it requires a bit of intentionality.
First, create an empty MIDI track and drag a "Drum Rack" device onto it from your browser.
Second, gather your preferred samples. Browse your folders for kicks, snares, claps, and percussion hits that resonate with your sound.
Third, drag these samples directly into the pads within the Drum Rack. You can choose to layer them or keep them simple.
Fourth, focus on the mix within the rack. Each pad has its own chain list where you can add effects. For example, add a "Glue Compressor" to your kick chain or a "Redux" to your percussion to add character.
Finally, map your most important parameters to the Macro knobs. If you want to control the decay of your snare or the pitch of your hi-hats without opening the device, mapping these to the Macros will speed up your workflow significantly.
